Overcoming Depression – Building Self Confidence
Civil Servant
I had never been to see a therapist before but from the first session (when I said very little and cried a lot), I trusted Daniella and felt comfortable with her. By enabling me to accept that I had been affected by certain experiences and that it was OK that those experiences had affected me, Daniella helped me realise that I wasn’t necessarily always going to feel this way. I started therapy feeling ashamed, like I’d failed and that I should be able to cope with life on my own. Daniella made me see that it was ok to talk to a professional and took the stigma away for me. I have since told quite a few of my friends and their reaction has been nothing but positive.
I could not tell you how Daniella does what she does. All I know is that she made me feel secure enough to face things I had previously avoided by listening, pushing me when I needed it and seemingly being really invested in the journey I took with her.
As a nervous first-timer I was unsure about signing up for lots of sessions but Daniella suggested I do 3 week blocks and then review. I ended up doing 12 sessions in all and I left feeling calmer, more hopeful and happier. I couldn’t ask for more than that.
